About Fabian Lyon
17 years inside the Miami Herald. Interviews with Kobe Bryant, Usain Bolt, and Nandi Mandela. Now, he's in your corner.
The Story
I spent more than 17 years as a journalist at the Miami Herald — one of the nation's most influential newsrooms, and one of the few that has consistently shaped how South Florida, the Caribbean, and Latin America are understood by the world.
In that time, I sat across from some of the most compelling and consequential people on earth. I interviewed Kobe Bryant during the peak of his Lakers dynasty. I spoke with Usain Bolt about speed, legacy, and what it means to be the fastest human who ever lived. I sat with Nandi Mandela, granddaughter of Nelson Mandela, and heard firsthand how a family carries the weight of history.
Those conversations taught me something that no journalism school can: the story behind the story is almost always more powerful than the story itself. And the people who know how to tell it — clearly, strategically, and on their own terms — move differently in the world.
After 17 years watching remarkable people be misrepresented, overlooked, or simply outmaneuvered by the narratives others built around them, I made a decision. I wanted to be on the other side of that conversation — not covering the story, but shaping it.
Kingston 3 Consulting exists because too many extraordinary people — athletes at the end of their playing careers, executives stepping into the public eye, authors with genuine wisdom to share, nonprofits doing life-changing work — never get the visibility or recognition they deserve. Not because they lack value, but because no one has helped them tell their story in a way that actually lands.
I built this practice to change that. The name comes from a place that represents roots, permanence, and purpose — and that's exactly what we build for our clients: foundations that last.
"This work is not about giving people a voice. It's about making sure the voice they already have is finally heard — clearly, fairly, and in the right places."
Kingston 3 Consulting is intentionally boutique. I work with a limited number of clients at a time — not because of capacity, but because genuine narrative work requires proximity. It requires understanding how you think, how you communicate, what you've survived, and what you're building toward.
My clients aren't looking for a publicist to place a press release. They're looking for a trusted advisor who will spend the time necessary to understand their full story — and then build a strategic framework around it that holds up under scrutiny, in front of cameras, and in every room that matters.
That's what I do. One client at a time. Every time.
